A post to send us off…

HELLO fellow bloggers! I thought I’d put up a nice solid post before embarking on my weekend activities. Dave AND my brother are coming down to PA tonight and they’ll be spending all weekend and monday with me and my fam. SO EXCITING!!!!

I’ve written a ton of news shorts and one big slide-show for RODALE.COM. I was NOT expecting to do ANY writing at all . You can check a few of them out here, here, here and here !! e.n.j.o.y

This week  was so0o0o0o busy for me . Today, I had a half day at the internship 😉 and afterwards I had a KILLER (in a good way) gym sesh:

  • 50 mins elliptical
  • 10 mins bike
  • stretching
Here are some of my eats !!! So0o0 everything is self explanatory here … just a day of  brittany staples haha ( except add a ton more carrots and some more pb 😉 obviously)

Last night I finished DREAMLAND by Sarah Dessen. Two words. READ IT. A captivating story, easy summer read, and a nice moral at the end. what more could you want? MY NEXT BOOK: Fly away home by Jennifer Weiner …. whose read this book??

The latest craze!!

This summer has been pretty good to me so far. I’ve done alot of fun stuff, I’ve done alot of relaxing, working out, cooking, reading, and writing for RODALE.COM!

Tonight I thought I’d share with you all my most recent obsessions 🙂

1. Tapping into my newly discovered “fashion” sense

2. Chobani yogurt…not exactly new but… EVERY morning without fail, I crave one. At least it’s a healthy obsession and it just tastes so freakin good!!

3. Experimenting with my staple foods. Here  I attempted honey mustard warmed chick peas with honey sunflower seeds and salad. D.E.L.I.S.H

4. APPLES AND CINNAMON!! You must try this … cut up an apple put it in a plastic bag, throw in cinnamon and shake it up 😉

5. My dog benji.  He will ALWAYS be one of my obsessions ♥ haha

6. My latest book: Dreamland by Sara Dessen, I can’t put it down!!!

Benji is a sleeper. I think I’ve been following his lead since I’ve napped more in the past few days than I ever have before!! … Except for Monday and Today ( and the rest of the work week) when 7:05 AM is my wake up call.  LUCKY DOG.

Lets start with “fashion” of the week so far ( yes the quotes are totally necessary)

WORKOUTS:

  • skipped monday ( did weights and crunches  in my room 😉 )
  • Today I did 45 on the elliptical and 17 on the bike. WOOP WOOP!
For my meals and snacks during the day…lets play a game shall we??

Anyway…my dinners have been rediculously boring and random so I decided to save you the eye-sore and skip the pictures until they shape up 😉 I’m so busy everyday at my internship but it’s starting to pay off……..

eats of finals week.

HEY THERE I’ve been doing nothing but study study study. ON THE BRIGHT SIDE I am do.n.e with organic chem and nutrition science….YAY! What a day I had today…both of these tests were totally challenging. I managed to take a KILLER spin class in between which helped me let out some anger haha. I’ve also been brainstorming recipe idea’s for summer and I cannot wait to share them with you!! ( once I test them out of course 😉 )

ANYWAY lets rewind to Wednesday. Here are some of my eats during a day of pure studying:

Breakfast…. plain yogurt with honey, 1/2 a grape fruit, grapes, cantaloupe, and sliced almonds……..underneath it all!

Mid-day snack: 1.5 T PB, 1 BANANA AND COCO POWDER MELTED….my favorite invention….pop this in the microwave for about 1 minute and 30 seconds…and your golden 😉

Then I studied more, ate dinner, went to bed and……..

woke up THIS MORNING for a nutrition test…pre-test I had a protien bar and a coffee…BLACK♥

After that I did that pretty tough spin class and ate lunch….

Here was my Mediterranean-esk salad for my post work out lunch:

various items. I’m sure it’s self-explanatory…except the feta cheese was DELISH!

Eventually took my LAST ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TEST EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!! It was hard. Im not gonna lie..but I tried my best sooo we’ll see the results soon 🙂 fingers crossed

THEN me and my two favorite fellow nutrition majors/chem nerds went out for a celebratory dinner at BERTUCCI’S

we split the roasted veggie appetizer…. which was ( in case you can’t tell) AMAZING.

MY MEAL: The shrimp and scallop torta with cheese, tomoatoes, and whole wheat torte…. AND YES I FINISHED IT ALL AND IT WAS AMAZING! I think I definitely deserved a good night out. I topped off dinner with a chocolate cappuccino ball. ( KISSES FINGERS IN THE AIR) MANIFIK!

Well I’m off to spend a relaxing night watching TV. Then it’s back to studying for statistics tomorrow.1 week till summer!!!!

Oh and I noticed very few of you answered the final quesiton in my last post… so now it’s your only option 🙂

6:55 to Pennsylvania.

HELLO! Today I traveled home ( which is always a big production …6 hours on the road). I wanted to get home asap so, I took the 6:55 AM bus. Which means I woke up at 5:45 to get ready and be at the stop early….VERY EARLY.

I set up shop with my ipod and later had a banana and pb with Dunkin donuts coffee 🙂 I don’t really mind the long trip especially when the wireless is working! I could read blogs on the go 🙂

I was getting sleepy during the ride but just couldn’t seem to fall asleep.

BUMMERRRRRRRRRR

The sky started to get really cloudy and dark…perfect for my nugo dark chocolate mocha bar!

This bar is AMAZING. It’s more of a chocolate bar than a bar-bar but none-the-less, ITS SOOOOO YUMMY 😉

We drove through NYC and I got some interesting snap shots…ENJOY

ANYWAY, I got home around 2:30 and was soooo hungry and tired. I made a smoothie ( that was a complete fail). My attempt at a carrot-cake coconut chocolate-something smoothie??…. I drank it out of pure starvation…..but lets just pretend that never happened haha…….. Then I took a nap and overslept a bit until 8:30! My brother was supposed to come in from OHIO around 9ish so I had just enough time to whip up a light dinner:

 

SOUTHWEST Tuna Stuffed Pepper and salad: ( oh how I miss cooking 🙂 )

How to make it !

  • take 1 can of tuna and mix with 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard and a little salsa to taste. Put that in the microwave for about 30 seconds
  • take a medium pepper and cut out the center, wash and stuff with the tuna mixture after it’s been heated
  • THE SALAD: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sunflower seeds, balsamic,and a drizzle of salsa.
  • Sprinkle the whole platter with parmesan
  • AND DIG IN!

After enjoying my dinner invention, my brother came home and me, my bro, my mom and dad sat together and caught up. I noshed on an orange while we laughed and told stories. We haven’t been all together in over 2 months! ( which is a long time for us). It’s my brother birthday weekend so we’ll be seeing tons of family this weekend. I’m so excited 🙂

NIGHT Errybody

 

last day of spring break

This morning I woke up and got ready to go on a nice bike ride with my mom and dad. I don’t get to come home often so we decided to spend the day together 🙂

I started off a pre-ride breakfast with a small apple and a big strawberry CRAZINESS!

Then we went for a 12 mile-ish ride in 50 degree weather… BEAUTIFUL!

NEXT I went and had a pedicure done! I get those every once-in- a-blue-moon so it really made my day 🙂

After that we planned to see the KING’s SPEECH. But before we went to the movie of course I had to make a snack for the theater. I started with a fruit based smoothie then didn’t like it because it was totally FLAVORLESS..then I made another one and couldn’t decide if I liked the first better……….oh decisions decisions

THE COMPETITION was FIERCE:

Fruit base vs. Milk base

MILK BASE WITH 1/2 a BANANA and 2 STRAWBERRIES WINS!!!!!!

YUMMMM

THE KING’S SPEECH was such a good movie and the lead actor was amazing ( he won an award for it ;))

DINNER:

lots of veggies and shrimp

 

A very eventful day and a perfect end to a RELAXING spring break

 

…..back to reality/school tomorrow.*sigh* …BUT at least spring weather is right around the corner 😉

A platter plate of balsamic with veggies, tofu,tuna,eggplant, and cottage cheese FOLLOWED BY: a little cup of canned fruit and green tea

1 PM Statistics class (YAWN)

2 PM STUDY AND HOMEWORK ( YAWWWWWWWWN)

3 PM ORGANIC CHEM class …not as bad as you might think 🙂

4 PM Attempted gym/ study session

16 mins on the bike

15 mins on the precore

…..OUTA THERE!

5 PM study for biology test and DINNER part 1:

Let me explain… I didn’t get a “freshens smoothie” because I wanted something more natural….. I had them blend a banana and strawberry CHOBANI greek yogurt with water and frozen strawberries (TYPICAL BRITTANY MOVE) then, needing a crunch, I added about 1/4 cup of granola and eat it with a spoon. YUMNESSSSS!!! new word… you like??

6PM BIOLOGY TEST AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!….just kidding I studied enough so I think I did well 😉

8 PM DINNER PART 2:

THE FAMOUS: banana,pb, and coco powder microwave melt PLUS a Honey nut special K bar because I was STILL HUNGRY!

9 PM STUDY MORE..for a nutrition test and prepare for bio lab in the AM

CURRENTLY: SPENT!!!!!! WHAT. A. DAY my motivation so far has been the thought of going to Florida on MARCH 12th.. ahhh the sunshine and lack of to-do lists. 🙂
